These are authentic 1960s Prada t-strap heels that Kennedy found in a donation bin. They were 2...thats right TWO dollars. Merry Christmas to me :)
Due to the bitingly cold weather, we've started taking our pictures indoors so the store looks pretty different. I think it looks spiffy but I do miss the roof.

I saw avatar in 3D, my first 3D movie, with Holky, ate the best food ever, hung out with old high school friends, took 2 naps, talked about holistic medicine with my 82 yr old grandma, who looks 50, and did all of that other christmas stuff people do. It was a pretty good one.

Yay goodwill! I'm really into wearing miniskirts lately so I've been building up a collection. I actually need to try to be more inventive and not just wear minis, leggings and boots every day but whatever. I've been on the lookout for some high waisted, wide legged jeans and when I find them, I'll switch to wearing those every day instead.
These holidays are getting me down! I haven't done any shopping yet and I need to find a tree that grows money before I can start. I really want to get something good for my mom but she's so goddamn picky and I can't think of anything she would want that I could get on the cheap. Luckily, she'll love me no matter what. Maybe I'd be able to think more clearly if my apartment was heated right now. Its not like we're having a blizzard or anything...

Joni Mitchell love

So I'm a little obsessed with Joni Mitchell. This might have something to do with the fact that Ladies of the Canyon was basically the only CD I brought with me on a 2 week long vacation with my family which turned out to be 2 of the worst weeks of my life. I definitely have one of those "the music pulled me through" relationships with her. I don't really know how I feel about her later work though. It seems that people who have enormous mainstream success in music tend to have a difficult time maintaining their popularity or quality of music for more than 10 years (this obviously is not always the case but it is "the way" for the majority I think). I mean, by the late 70s, Joni Mitchell was already all "I hate being thought of as delicate a mountain princess...I want to be taken more seriously...I'm going to completely change my image...people aren't that into it but thats their fault, not mine...blah blah blah" There was just something so extraordinary about her early music that the later "redefine myself" jazz, rock and roll stuff didn't have. If it aint broke, don't fix it...you know?!

my parents' house is cool

Last weekend Kennedy and I had a very pleasant time in NYC. We went to a party, had great restaurant experiences, saw the Tim Burton exhibit (and a bunch of awesome old school photography) at the MOMA and treated ourselves to some new clothes. This is what it looked like. Then Thanksgiving was a success. I had perfect turkey and the best pumpkin pie on earth and I went to the movies with Holky. We saw "Fantastic Mr. Fox" which turned out to be one of the better movies I've seen recently.
I've been trying to go out and have fun but lately it hasn't been working. I'll go out and spend the whole night wishing I was home. I've also been single for a billion years and its getting OLD. However, I had substantially more fun than usual on the NYC trip but I still wasn't there yet. I'm sure there is plenty of fun to be had, I'm just no good at having it. I also suspect that I've become boring. Recently, when out dancing, a stranger came up to me and said "do you need a drink or something? you seem pretty dull" hahaha. ugh.

Happy Birthday to me :)

It was a great birthday this year! Kennedy and I went to my parents' house for dinner the night before and my dad made fielt mignon with bernaise sauce, green beans and little potatoes and I made a lemon cake from a Martha Stewart recipe. Then the next day we drove my mom's car to worcester to go to a huge salvation army and a savers to get stuff for etsy. I hadn't driven in over a year b/c of epilepsy but since everything seems to be cool with that, I'm behind the wheel again hehehe! We also got to watch an hour or two of cable at my parents' house which was a rare treat. It wasn't a party with 20 of my closest friends but I though it was a-ok.

Ben Affleck on my doorstep

So they're filming a new Ben Affleck movie in Boston right now and they've spent 3 or 4 days on my street. He was here like 2 weeks ago filming in Neptune and I didn't get to see him but this week they were filming right in front of my apartment using the laundromatt next door (which I used to work at) as the setting for the bank (in a movie about a bank robbery). I really don't give too much of a shit about Ben Affleck but he's famous and a regulation hottie so I got REALLY excited about having him downstairs for a couple of days. I also just think its cool to live in a neighborhood/a specific street corner where they would want to shoot a movie. On the other hand, they kept telling everyone to "tuck in!!" so whenever I left the house, I'd have to hide in a my doorway for a couple of minutes and then I got hurried along and chastised for taking pictures. They also stretched a huge white tarp from building to building over where they were shooting to help soften the light or something so looking out my window became even more surreal. The whole thing looks like a grade a piece a of garbage, by the way.
Oh and Ben Affleck totally gazed at me! Sweaah to gawd.

Of course he's shorter than I expected.
